Valley View Spartan Football Alumni Association Q & A
Q: What is the Valley View Spartan Football Alumni Association
A: The Alumni Association is a group of former players, coaches, and staff that take great pride in the Valley View Spartan Football Program. The association aims to provide the program with the resources it needs through membership dues, voluntary fundraising, and voluntary contributions from the community. The association is founded as a Non-Profit Limited Liability Company within the State of Ohio, and has 501(c)(3) exempt status from the IRS.
Q: How do I join?
A: Membership is obtained through an annual contribution of $50.00. New members also must fill out a membership form that is located below. Contributions may be made online via our Join Us page or by sending a check or money order to Valley View Spartan Football Alumni Association, LLC, P.O. Box 1111, Germantown, Ohio 45459. If you send a check or money order, and are a new member, still fill out the membership form below. Since this is the first year for the alumni association membership will run from November 2012 - July 1, 2014. Thereafter, membership will run from July 1, 2014 - June 30, 2015, and so on and so forth.
Q: Who is eligible to become a member?
A: At this time, only former players, coaches, and staff of the Valley View Football Program are eligible to become members in the organization. Current players may join at the conclusion of their Senior season. Parents, Spouses, or Siblings, of deceased former players, coaches, or staff may be a member in place of their loved one. Once the organization grows in size, a vote will be held on whether to expand membership. Contributions from non-members, however, are always welcome and will go to the improvement of the Valley View Spartan Football Program. If you have a question as to your eligibility, please contact Kile Genslinger or Curtis Moore.
Q: What do I get out of my membership?
A: As a member you are afforded certain privileges that non-member contributors do not have. Namely, you are allowed to vote for the members of the board of trustees for the alumni association. The board will make decisions on behalf of the members of the organization. This means you will vote for the representatives that will set the agenda for the organization, and who will ultimately decide on the allocation of funds.
Second, the alumni association anticipates monthly or bi-monthly meetings that members are allowed to attend. The board will present to the organization all new developments since the last meeting. This allows members to hold the board accountable and ensure that the organization is meeting its aims and goals. Moreover, the board will attempt to have a coach or two from the current football staff present to field a Q & A session with the board members.
Third, you will be afforded entry to member only events and gatherings. In the future we also plan to provide members with a quarterly newsletter updating members on what is happening within the organization, and also updating members on what is new with the Football Program.
Finally, you will be able to be hands on with an organization that aims to take the Valley View Football Program back to glory, and to provide the program with the resources that it requires. You will be able to take pride in knowing that you have helped to rebuild the program, and will form a bond with younger generations of Spartan Alumni.
Q: What type of projects and goals does the alumni association anticipate?
A: Short term goals consist of updating player equipment, coaches equipment, and providing cleats and personal gear for players who are unable to afford to purchase these items. Long term goals include establishing a scholarship fund(s), sending the team to a team camp, and building a new football weight room facility, that includes showers, locker rooms, and coaches offices.
